The West Africa Green Economic Development Institute (WAGEDI) through her Executive Director, Prof Magnus Chidi Onuoha has congratulated Omototenloye Majekodunmi, a lawyer and climate finance expert , on her appointment as the third Director General, National Climate Change Council (NCCC). You will recall that Dr Salisu Dahiru was the pioneer Director General, followed by Dr Nkiru Maduekwe.
WAGEDI notes with enthusiasm the expert knowledge Omototenloye will be bringing to the NCCC especially in the areas of climate finance, carbon market and renewable energy and energy efficiency. While commending the pioneering roles played by Dr Salisu Dahiru with the laying of sustainable foundation and Dr Maduekwe seizing the moment by delivering some milestones on top of it is the recent integration of the circular economy trajectories in the Nigeria NDC 3.0. Her closing statement also resonated globally during the closing meeting at COP 29 in Azerbaijan last year, and was also worthy of commendation.
WAGEDI is confident that the era of Omotenloye Majekodunmi as the Director General of NCCC will witness a transformational shift and indeed a quantum leap in the delivery of Nigeria’s climate action and the NDC implementation. In this regard, the West Africa Green Economic Development Institute (WAGEDI) , Africa Technology and Policy Studies (ATPS) Network, Kenya and Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) are happy to present the new DG, the NDC implementation index and tracking tools online portal for Africa, developed by these three African institutions and funded by the African Development Bank( AfDB). It is indeed a living data driven document that will also guide us in the implementation and delivery of our climate action and NDC.
Welcome onboard our new DG.
